Roger E. Young

Roger E. Young, age 84, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, February 12, 2023 at his home in Coweta, Oklahoma.  Roger was born on August 29, 1938 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Robert and Lillie M. Young.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Army National Guard.  Roger enlisted in the Army National Guard on May 15, 1964 and was honorably discharged on October 8, 1969.   Roger owned and operated Roger’s Carpet Cleaning for many years.  He was a member of the Coweta Assembly. He enjoyed rabbit and bird hunting in his younger years and he also loved mowing, drinking coffee, and spending time with his family.

Roger is survived by his daughters, Kathy Scott and husband Randy of Coweta, Oklahoma and Tina Johnson of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Bryan Shepherd, Kristy Shepherd, Blake Shepherd, Kacey Roggendorff, Corey Shepherd, Lindsay Brotzge, Chelsey Smith, and JT Johnson; seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his wife, Loetta “Susie” Young, his parents, Robert and Lillie M. Young, his daughter, Stacie Shepherd, three sisters, and six brothers.

Visitation will be from 12:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 16, 20223 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Services celebrating Roger’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Coweta Assembly in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Steve Lee officiating.  Roger will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Blake Shepherd, Corey Shepherd, Darryl Young, Patrick Young, and James Young.  Honorary Pallbearers are Jerry Shepherd and Danny Young.
