Richard Dale Mayberry, age 86, longtime resident of Coweta, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, November 12, 2023, at Aspen Health & Rehab in Broken Arrow, OK. He was born on May 6, 1937, in Kellyville, OK to Richard Henry and Ida Irene (Young) Mayberry.
Richard was a 1956 graduate of Kellyville High School. Following his education, he bravely served his country in the United States Army from 1960 to 1962. Richard then embarked on a fulfilling career as a machinist at Ajax Die Casting, where he worked diligently until his retirement.
On June 22, 1963, Richard married the love of his life, Mary Ann Parker, in Tulsa, OK. Together, they built a beautiful life and family. He was a man of many interests, including playing softball and pitching, fishing, working his cattle, and bowling. He was an avid sports fan, with a particular fondness for women's softball, OU football, and the Dallas Cowboys.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Deborah Keel and husband Randy of Broken Arrow, OK, and Theresa Eubanks and husband Mike of Haskell, OK. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren, Tabitha Burris, Ashley Hammit, Bobby Hammit, Richard Hammit, Nina Turner, Ryan Keel, Tyler Keel, Jessica Eubanks, and William Eubanks and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Dona Zirger of Bristow, OK, and his brothers, Frank Mayberry and wife Ginger of Battle Creek, MI, and Henry Mayberry and wife Phyllis of Bristow, OK. Richard's memory will also be cherished by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Mayberry, his parents, Richard and Ida Mayberry, his daughter, Cheryl Mayberry, his son, Dale Mayberry, his grandson, Matthew Burris, and his siblings, Cleo Mayberry, Marie Mangrum, Georgia Gantz, and Lewis Mayberry.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, OK. A service celebrating Richard's life will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, November 17, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK, with Rev. Brody Morris officiating. Richard will be laid to rest with military honors at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK.
