Wilson "Miguel" Gonzalez

July 26, 2003 — January 19, 2025

Tulsa

On July 26, 2003, a baby boy was born to Wilson and Lesia Gonzalez, and they named him Wilson “Miguel” Gonzalez. Miguel had well developed lungs. He joined his Lord and Savior in the Heavenly realms on Sunday, January 19, 2025, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 21.

Miguel completed elementary school at McAuliffe in Tulsa, making life-long friends from sixth grade with Justynn and Zane, and many others through high school. Miguel acquired the name “Clothes Hanger” on the football field. He was a competitive swimmer for SwimAmerica. Miguel won his first swimming event; without having any formal training for the meet. Miguel was also a member of the Thunderbird Military Academy. Within the first 30 days he had excelled in rank from Private to Sargeant and began as the photographer for the school and had access to the golf cart.

As a member of Simmon’s Chapel Baptist Church, Miguel served as the drummer. Frequently when afternoon services were held with more than a hundred guests, Miguel had the keys to every area of the building. Miguel was the decision maker of who could enter certain areas. Miguel felt proud and empowered, and he loved that job.

Miguel’s mother was very ill. At the age of 12, he began to live with his grandparents, James and Norma Phillips. At the age of 13, Miguel’s mother became terminal. At his mother’s wishes she Lesia filed with the Tulsa County Court that she desired for her son to be raised as a Phillips. At that time, James and Norma Phillips became Miguel’s legal guardians and CHERISHED every moment of time they shared with Miguel.

On August 14, 2014, Miguel expressed his desire to be baptized. Miguel and his mother Lesia were baptized in a pond together.

Miguel’s mother was suffering from cancer. Miguel prayed that his mother would be healed and live, but it was time for her to go to her Heavenly Home with God, Our Lord and Savior. The loss of his mother brought about a traumatic change in Miguel’s life.

Miguel leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Ashlyne Marie (married on November 20, 2024), grandparents, James and Norma Phillips, great grandfather, Arnell Hayes, his uncle and aunt, John Christopher and Tah Kaney Haynes, his great uncle and aunt, Lawrence and Angela Tyson, and many aunts, cousins, and friends. Miguel loved them all!

Miguel was preceded in death by his mother, Lesia Dequiency Gonzalez, his great grandmother, Marietta Haynes, and his uncle, John Michael Haynes.

Services to honor Miguel’s life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK.
