Wilma Engel

Wilma Jean (Leiker) Engel joined her beloved husband, Bob, in Heaven on January 16, 2016 at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 4 days. She was born on October 12, 1932 in Hays, Kansas to Martin and Bridget (Brungardt) Leiker. Wilma married her one true love, Robert J. Engel, on October 11, 1954. They were inseparable until his passing 11 months ago, proving that their hearts could only be apart for a short while. Wilma was a homemaker and her joy came from being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-
grandmother. She will be remembered for many things. Wilma was a devout Catholic and 50 year member of St. Pius X Church. She loved birds, gardening, oil painting, collecting dolls, playing bridge, volunteering, hosting family holidays and most of all, spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although most people towered over Wilma in height, her loving, faithful heart was bigger than all of ours. She was a wonderful, sweet woman and will be forever missed. Her husband, Bob, her parents and 3 sisters preceded Wilma in death. She is survived by four children, Mary Lawrence and husband Mike of Tulsa; Alan Engel and wife Brenda of Broken Arrow; Anne Klein and husband Dan of Lenexa, KS; Carol Barrow and husband Kurt of Houston, TX; 10 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and another on the way; brother, Virgil Leiker of Hays, KS; brother, Wayne Leiker of El Dorado, KS; and sister, Darlene Kuhn of Russell, KS. Visitation will be held from 12-4 Friday at Kennedy-Midtown Funeral Home. A Rosary will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22nd at St. Pius X Church and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 23rd, also at St. Pius X Church with Interment following at Calvary Cemetery in Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Wilma's name made to Clarehouse, 7617 S. Mingo Rd. Tulsa, Oklahoma 74133. Services entrusted to Kennedy Midtown Funeral Service.
