Willie Clarence Douglas of Porter passed away on Saturday evening, May 5, 2007 at OSU Medical Center in Tulsa. He was 75 years old. Willie was born on October 1, 1931 in the Weir community in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to Clarence Clifton and Bessie (Jackson) Douglas. He received his education at the Conklin School in Wagoner County. He came to the Porter area in the 1970's from Locust Grove, Oklahoma. On February 16, 1984 he was united in marriage to Mary Gavillet in Tulsa. They later divorced. Willie worked at Crane Carrier in the maintenance department for 23 years until his retirement in 1994. He also worked in the maintenance department at Douglas Aircraft for five years. His hobbies included coon hunting and rodeos. Survivors include one brother, Richard C.B. Douglas of Pryor, Oklahoma; five sisters, Elsie Benson of Catoosa, Oklahoma, Ellen Welch of Quapaw, Oklahoma, Vera Maner of Kansas, Oklahoma, Lucille Murphy of Vinita, Oklahoma, and Regina Jackson of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; three step-grandchildren, Charles Dustin Cale, Chris Cale, and Nick Moore; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Leslie Dale Douglas, and three brothers-in-law. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at First Baptist Church in Coweta with Reverend Carl Hein officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Hogan Cemetery in Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home in Coweta.
