William Raymond "Bill" Sawyer, age 61, longtime resident of Broken Arrow, OK passed away peacefully Sunday morning, June 17, 2012 at his home in Broken Arrow, OK. Bill was born on October 23, 1950 in Hempstead Long Island, NY to Frederick William and Minnie Belle (Bowers) Sawyer. Bill attended Ponca City Military Academy and was a 1968 graduate of Central High School in Tulsa. After graduating, he attended Northeastern State University and Tulsa University. Bill owned and operated S & S Home Improvement and he previously was a loan officer and tax consultant. On April 23, 2005, he married Dora Sue Lemaster in Broken Arrow, OK. Bill was a member of the JcPenny Golden Rule Volunteer Service, Brady Heights Neighborhood Association, Inc. and Boy Scouts. Bill enjoyed reading, history, treasure hunting, trout fishing and he liked being outdoors and enjoying the wilderness. Bill will be missed by his family, as a loving husband, father, son, brother, grandfather and uncle. Bill is lovingly survived by his wife, Dora Sawyer of the home; his mother, Minnie Minehart of Broken Arrow, OK; his brother, Mike Oxley and wife, Linda, of Honolulu, Hawaii; three step-children, Portel Bellamy of Tulsa, OK, Brittany Willis of Seminole, OK and Sean Willis of Seminole, OK; two step-grandchildren, Marco Laredo and Allie Laredo, both of Seminole, OK; two nieces, Stacey Oxley-Patterson and husband, Nick and Mary Oxley-Dominguez and husband, Jose; one great niece, Lily Mae Patterson; two great nephews, Lucas O. Dominguez and Eli Dominguez; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Frederick William Sawyer. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Friday evening, June 22, 2012 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM. A funeral service for Bill is scheduled for 4:00 PM Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Wright-Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta. Honorary Pallbearers are Gary Reid, Bob Shepard, Keith Preddy, Terry Aldridge, Don Flynn and John Posey.
