William Thomas "Doc" Buckner, Sr.

William Thomas "Doc" Buckner, Sr., age 83, resident of Coweta departed this life on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Doc was born on September 2, 1935 in Tulsa, OK to Homer "Butch" and Hilda Lavonne (Isley) Buckner. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1952-1956. Doc attended Cleveland Chiropractic College where he received his Bachelor's degree. He married the love of his life, Willa Ruth Beals on November 23, 1957 in Tulsa, OK. Doc was a Chiropractor where he owned and operated Buckner Chiropractic in Coweta from 1977 to 1987. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, traveling and spending time with his family. Doc made and carved his own flintlock guns. He began Coweta's first car club, Coweta Classic Car Club, where he served as president for many years. Doc is survived by his wife of 61 years, Willa Buckner, of the home in Coweta, OK; two children, William Thomas Buckner, Jr. of Overland Park, KS and Tamra Ruth Schultz and husband, Roy, of Claremore, OK; two grandchildren, Dalton Chance Schultz and Callie Ruth Schultz; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Doc was preceded in death by his father, Homer "Butch" Buckner, his mother and step-father, Hilda Lavonne and Orville Westbrook and one grandson, Dylan Thomas Buckner. Graveside services with military honors will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Rev. Brody Morris officiating.
