William N. Atkins, Sr. was born in Coweta, Okla. to Grace Mackey and Eddie Atkins on June 14, 1944. He attended Coweta Schools and joined the Army at age 17. He was a Rifleman in Company A of the 28th Infantry at Fort Riley. Upon leaving the Army he met Marion Louise Harper and they were married in April of 1966. Four children were born to this union. William was preceded in death by his wife, his father, his son, Marcoe, 3 brothers, Eddie, Paul and Scipio and 1 sister, Joann. He is survived by his mother, Grace Mackey; his children, William Jr., Jennice and Shannon; his brothers, Arnold "Remus", Maurice & Wanda, Roscoe, Michael, Ralph, Rufus & Ruth and Carlos & Florene; his sisters, Janice, Jacqueline, Carolyn, Vivian, Beverly, Sharon & Wheeler and Paula; his step brothers and sisters, Mary & George Reese, Shiela & Sam Barnes, Raymond Jr. & Linda Mackey, Linda Trout, James Mackey and Sheronda Dennard; grandchildren, Porsha, Donyae, Maurcia, Asia, Shawna, Kejaun and Keshawn; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 10 AM - 8 PM on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family being present from 6 PM - 8 PM. Services celebrating William's life will be at 12 PM on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Wilson Chapel CME Church in Coweta, Okla. with Rev. Ruthie "Penny" McKittrick officiating.
