Willard Satterfield

Willard "Buzz" Satterfield, age 95, long-time resident of Coweta passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, September 6, 2011 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, OK. He was a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, great-great grandfather and uncle. Buzz was born on December 18, 1915 in Porter, OK to his parents, Shedrick and Maude (Boyd) Satterfield. He was raised in Porter and graduated from Porter High School. On July 24, 1939, Buzz and Olla Mae VanTuyl were married in Harrison, AR and she preceded him in death on September 16, 1992. He worked as a self-employed carpenter until he retired in 1990. Buzz was a member of the Church of Christ and the Odd Fellows Lodge in Coweta. He enjoyed playing dominoes, quail hunting, watching baseball, guitars, gardening and leading singing at the church. Buzz will be dearly missed by his loved ones and friends. Buzz is lovingly survived by his four children, Norman Satterfield and wife, Margie, of Coweta, OK, Darlene Hargrove and husband, Jim, of Haskell, OK, Colman Satterfield and wife, Sharon, of Checotah, OK and Van Satterfield and wife, Becky, of Coweta, OK; 13 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Buzz was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, one daughter, four brothers and one sister. Funeral services for Buzz will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Church of Christ, 123 W. Sycamore St., Coweta, OK 74429. Chaplain John Lay will officiate the service. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are Wade Satterfield, Kevin Satterfield, Doug Trott, Dennis Trott, Mark Trott, Justin Hargrove, Brad Satterfield and Jared Satterfield.
