Wesley Michael Hayes

Wesley Michael Hayes, age 48, departed this life on Sunday evening, April 19, 2020 in Muskogee, OK.  Wes was born September 7, 1971 in Muskogee, OK and was the son of James Michael and Polly Jean (Bias) Hayes.  He was a 1990 graduate of Coweta High School.  Wes attended Bacone College and Northeastern State University where he played college basketball and received his Bachelor’s degree in Education and his Master’s degree in Administration.  He married the love of his life, Brandy Lee Taylor on June 17, 1995 in Eureka Springs, AR.  Wes was a teacher and coach for 25 years.  He taught an array of history courses and coached basketball, baseball, softball, golf, and cross country.  He was a talented musician who could play the guitar, drums, and the harmonica.  Wes was a singer/songwriter and has published 4 albums and a couple of his songs reached the top 40’s on the Texas Music Charts.  He enjoyed traveling with his music and he also enjoyed fishing.  He loved his wife, children and enjoyed coaching his son, Micah and teaching his daughter, Madison the game of golf.  He was loved by everyone and was an incredible husband, father, son, brother, coach, and friend.  His outgoing personality made him loved by everyone who knew him.

Wes is survived by his wife, Brandy Hayes of Muskogee, OK; two children, Micah Dalton Hayes of Ft. Gibson, OK and Madison Presley Hayes of Muskogee, OK; his mother, Polly Jean Hayes of Muskogee, OK; one sister, Kelly Montgomery and husband Ferrell of Wagoner, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and a host of friends

Wes was preceded in death by his son, Jacob Lee Hayes; his father, Mike Hayes; his maternal grandparents, Fred and Pauline Bias; and his paternal grandparents, Dalton and Velma Hayes.

A memorial service celebrating the life of Wes will be held at a later date to be determined.  Wes will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta at a private family graveside on Tuesday, April 28, 2020.
