Weldon H. Childress, age 79, of Okay, OK passed away on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on March 7, 1930 in Center Ridge, AR to Donald and Lois (Brown) Childress. Weldon was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather to his family. He attended school in Porter, OK and graduated from high school in 1948. He later attended Northeastern State University and graduated in 1973 with a Master's Degree in Industrial Arts. He served in the United States Navy from November 7, 1950 to November 4, 1955. Weldon and Ailene Cole were married on October 3, 1952. They later divorced. He then married Betty Stiehl on March 8, 1986 in Owasso, OK. He taught Industrial Arts and coached basketball for the Porum, OK school system. He also taught Industrial Arts and Driver's Education at East Central High School and McClain High School in Tulsa, OK. After retiring he was part owner in C and C Asphalt Company with his two brothers. Weldon will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. Weldon is lovingly survived by his wife, Betty of the home; his two sons, Mark Childress and his wife, Mary, of Porter, OK and Matthew Childress and his wife, Fonda, of Haskell, OK; his daughter, Lisa Truitt of Hulbert, OK; his two brothers, Jimmy Joe Childress of Muskogee, OK and Billy Don Childress of Stillwater, OK; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. A memorial service for Weldon will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Light House Free Will Baptist Church in Haskell, OK with Rev. Russell Lowe officiating.
