July 26, 2011 Wanda Marie (Jones) York, age 76 years, 2 months and 17 days, entered eternal life March 14, 2009 in Catoosa. She was born December 25, 1932 in Broken Arrow to Norbert Cledo and Nellie Belle (McManus) Jones. Wanda married Phillip Murray York and together they created a wonderful family. She was a Christian who enjoyed the O.U. Sooners, Dallas Cowboys, St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves, bingo, candles, red carnations and roses, decorating in maroon lace, blue grass and gospel music and especially her grandchildren. Wanda was a retired nurse who worked many years at Raney's Nursing Home in Broken Arrow. In addition to her husband Phillip Murray York, she was preceded in death by her sons: Theodore Burt and Terry Scott York; sister Roberta Rector; and grandson Stephen Wayne Shiplett. Wanda is survived by her loving children: Phillip Murray York, Jr. and daughter-in-law Debbie of Tahlequah, Vernon Lee and daughter-in-
law Vonda Kay, Kathy Jean York Smith and son-in-law Kirk, John Clifton and daughter-in-
law Jackie, all of Hulbert, Carla Ray Barber and son-in-law Kenny of Coweta, Marla Kay Shiplett and son-in-law David of Marion, KS, Nellie Marie Jeffs and son-in-law Mike of Catoosa; and a very special niece Marcie Martin of Coweta; 25 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews and 3 nieces from the Ponder family; and a host of friends and other relatives that were so dear to her heart. A special acknowledgement to her daughter-in-law Vonda Kay York, whom she treated as her own daughter and who tirelessly cared for her. Bequests may be directed to Relay for Life, 1408 W.
