Wanda Irene Morris

January 21, 1933 — May 28, 2023

Coweta

Wanda Irene (Maltbie) Morris, 90, of Coweta, OK, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

Wanda was born on January 21, 1933 to John and Lucille (McGlasson) Maltbie at their farmstead home in Amorita, OK. Wanda graduated from Amorita High School in 1950 where she was quite the basketball player. Always determined to be self-sufficient, Wanda left home and moved as a single young lady to Oklahoma City. She worked for the telephone company and lived at the YWCA downtown with her best friend and cousin, Arminta (McGlasson) Harms.

Eventually, she made her way to Stillwater, OK where she met the love of her life, George Wheeler Morris, as a young OSU co-ed. She was always proud to be an OSU Cowboy and member of Beta Sigma Phi. She and George were married March 10, 1956 in Coweta, OK. They went on to have four beloved children, George Dean, Hallie Denise, Tony Alan, and Ivan Dale.

Wanda worked for many years as a respected real estate appraiser and REALTOR®. She and George were proud of Country Boy Realty, the Century 21 office they co-owned with James Wilson and Bill Chambers.

A woman of tremendous faith, Wanda attended and served at the Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta for over 56 years. She always encouraged those around her and was quick to offer a prayer or uplifting word.

She loved road trips, taking photos, and painting in her later years. She also enjoyed driving around to stay abreast of the constant changes around town (must have been the real estate professional in her).

Wanda was preceded in death by her father, John; her mother, Lucille; her husband, George; her daughter, Hallie; and her son, Ivan. She is survived by her son, George Dean Morris and wife Pam Morris; her son, Tony Alan Morris and wife Annette Morris; her son-in-law, Doug Banner and wife Keri Banner; her granddaughter, Jennifer (Morris) Thomure and husband Chris Thomure; her granddaughter, Jessica Morris; her granddaughter, Christie Morris; her granddaughter, Sarah Morris; her grandson, George Andrew Morris; and her granddaughter, Meagan (Banner) Price and husband Chase Price. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Hayden Thomure, Caleb Thomure, Braxton Banner, Beckett Price, Benjamin Price, and Broderick Price.
