Wanda Ellen Hughes

Wanda Ellen Hughes, age 80, longtime resident of Coweta went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, July 29, 2020 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.  Wanda was born on August 20, 1939 in Grimes, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Paul Jerome and Ella Mae (Withers) Burrows.

Wanda was raised in the Porter area and was a 1957 graduate of Porter High School.  She met the love of her life, Kenneth Oscar Hughes and they were married on September 26, 1958 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Wanda worked at Prestolite Electric in Wagoner and Flight Safety in Tulsa as a purchasing agent until she retired.  She was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in Coweta.  Wanda’s devoted life to faith, family, and hospitality mirrored the virtuous woman of Proverbs 31.  She was a loving and kindhearted wife, mother, sister, and mema who cherished and supported her family in everything they did.  Wanda enjoyed spending time in the yard and gardening, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Wanda is survived by her husband, Kenneth Hughes of the home in Coweta, Oklahoma; her two daughters, Debbie Replogle and husband Derrick of Coweta, Oklahoma and Lori Ross and husband Michael of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three brothers, Gordon Burrows and wife Linda of Coweta, Oklahoma, Richard "Cecil" Burrows of Wagoner, Oklahoma, and Kenny Burrows and wife Sharon of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; three grandsons, Zachary Hall, Vincent Giles, and Kyle Replogle; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Jerome and Ella Mae Burrows and two brothers, Glenn Burrows and Wayne Burrows.

Viewing for Wanda will be from 12:00 – 6:00 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Brown Funeral Home with the family present to receive friends from 3:00 – 6:00 PM.  Services celebrating Wanda’s life will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2020 at the First Christian Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Jeff King officiating.  Wanda will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Mike Hughes, Kyle Replogle, Matt Hughes, Robbie Burrows, Bryan Burrows, and Joe Cash.  Honorary Pallbearers are Gordon Burrows, Richard Burrows, Kenny Burrows, Dennis Hughes, and Brent Hughes.
