Virginia May (Ruffner) Soerries

Virginia May (Ruffner) Soerries was born on May 5, 1930 in Owensville, MO.  The middle child and only daughter to Henry and Laurette (Demper) Ruffner.  After 93 fulfilling and wonderful years, she passed on August 6, 2023, in Tulsa, OK with her family with her.

Virginia married Alfred Soerries on July 23, 1952 in Owensville, MO and traveled with him while he worked at building homes across the country.  They settled in Tulsa in 1954 and raised three children, Linda Soerries of Okmulgee, OK, Steven (Gretchen) Soerries, Broken Arrow, OK and Michael Soerries, Tulsa, OK.

Virginia has three grandchildren, Sabrina (Jack) McClure, of Broken Arrow, OK, Sean (Joslany) McCall DMD of Davie, FL, and Katie Gibbs (Justin Colley) of Tulsa, OK.  Her great-grandchildren are Alyssa Gibbs, Isabella McClure, Scout McClure, Jaxon McClure, Blanca McCall, and Bella McCall.

She has gone to be with her husband, Alfred Soerries who preceded her in death in 1995. Her parents preceded her in their passing as did her older brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Bernice Ruffner and her younger brother, Donald Ruffner.  She is survived by her sister-in-laws, Lois Ruffner, Owensville, MO, Mary Ann Soerries, Joplin, MO, brother-in-law, Matt (Marjorie) Soerries, Broken Arrow, OK, and Cecil (Janie) Soerries, Oklahoma City, OK, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Rosary service will be on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 7:00 PM and Funeral Mass will be on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM, both at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 15842 S. 297th E. Ave, Coweta, OK.  Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, 9101 S. Harvard Ave., Tulsa, OK following the Funeral Mass.  Rev. Leo Ahanotu will be officiating.
