Vernal Julia Moffett, affectionately known as Julia, passed away peacefully at her home in Coweta, OK, on Saturday evening, October 5, 2024, at the age of 78. She was born on April 14, 1946, in Tulsa, OK to Lewis Nathan and Vernal Mark (Moran) Dillon. Julia's life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and joy that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Julia's early years were spent in Tulsa, where she graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1964. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Draughon's Business School, where she honed the skills that would serve her well throughout her career. For 37 years, Julia was the office manager at Java Dave's Coffee, where her warmth and professionalism became the hallmark of her service until her retirement in 2018.
On May 2, 1986, Julia married the love of her life, Anthony "Tony" Dwain Moffett, and together they built a life filled with laughter, adventure, and unwavering support for one another. Their home in Coweta was a haven of hospitality, where Julia's talents as a great cook and her love for reading were well known. She was a huge Elvis Presley fan, and her passion for his music was only matched by her joy in fishing alongside Tony, creating cherished memories that will live on forever.
Known for her caring and loving nature, Julia was a beacon of kindness in her community. Her presence was a comfort to many, and her ability to listen and offer wise counsel made her a cherished friend and confidant. Julia's influence extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many through her genuine interest in their well-being.
Julia's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Tony Moffett of the home in Coweta, OK; her loving daughter, Renee Rust of Oologah, OK; her son, Daryl Campbell of Skiatook, OK; her adored grandchildren, Heather Sawyer (Seith) of Pryor, OK and Ashlei King (Jeremiah) of Skiatook, OK; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Rayelynn and Jaylynn King. She is also survived by her brother, Lewis Dillon (Lynda) of Norman, OK; her sister, Nancy Campbell of Tulsa, OK; her sister, Cindy Braswell (Frank) of Upland, IN; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives who will miss her dearly.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Nathan and Vernal Mark Dillon.
Julia's story is one of unwavering love, a commitment to her family, and a life filled with purpose and joy. Her memory will be cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her example of kindness and compassion will remain a guiding light for generations to come.
A memorial service celebrating Julia's life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at CrossPoint Baptist Church in Coweta, OK. Pastor Brett Wheeler will officiate the service.
