Verna Grace Denton

Verna Grace Denton of Coweta passed from this life on late Monday evening, December 1, 2008 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home at the age of 81 years, 2 months, & 4 days. She was born on September 27, 1927 in Porter, OK to Joe and Belle (Sumpter) Fanning. Grace received her education in the Porter school system. She and J.C. Denton, Sr. were united in marriage on November 17, 1947 in Ft. Smith, AR and he preceded her in death on December 27, 1995. Grace worked as an assembler at Thomas and Betts for 15 years until she decided to retire in 1994. She had also worked as an assembler at Zebco for 20 years. Grace had lived in the Coweta and Porter area most of her life. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Coweta. She enjoyed antiques, going shopping, and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers, and 5 sisters. She is survived by 2 sons, J.C. Denton, Jr. and his wife, Deloris, of Coweta and Larry Denton and his wife, Glenda, of Coweta; 1 brother, Jimmy Fanning of Ft. Worth, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Misty Edwards and her husband, Greg, Josh Denton and his wife, Erin, Wesley Denton and his wife, Michele, and Zachary Denton and his wife, Fallon; 8 great grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harry Withers officiating. A private burial will be held at Vernon Cemetery.
