Verna Dale (Gilbert) Chadwell

Verna Dale (Gilbert) Chadwell, loving mother, housewife, and faithful servant of the Lord, age 76, resident of Haskell, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee, Oklahoma surrounded by her family.  Verna was born on February 4, 1946 in Coweta, Oklahoma and was the daughter of Roy Herbert Gilbert and Rosie Lorene (Ketchum) Gilbert.  She married the love of her life, Lloyd Gene Chadwell on December 9, 1972.  Verna enjoyed playing dominoes and cards and always won every game she played.  She also loved reading her Bible and spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Lloyd Gene Chadwell, her parents, Roy Herbert and Rosie Lorene Gilbert, and six siblings, LeRoy Gilbert, Estelene (Gilbert) Sisney, Kelly Gilbert, Vaugha (Gilbert) Sisney, Norma (Gilbert) Mashburn, and Roger Gilbert.

Verna is survived by her children, Annette Morris and husband Tony, Tina Mashburn and husband Eddie Adair, Dalia Alley and husband Alfred, Rosa Brannon and husband Sam, and Loyd Chadwell and wife Joy; eleven grandchildren, Christie Morris, Sarah Morris, Jacob Mashburn, Jerry Adair, Christopher Adair, Terry Fowler, L. Jay Alley, Racheal Rush, Bobby Alley, Alfred Lee Alley III, and Patrick Brannon; fifteen great grandchildren; her brother, Willie Gilbert and wife Mildred; her sister, Marion (Gilbert) Mashburn; her sister-in-law, Geraldine Gilbert; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Visitation will be from 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma with the family present from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.  Services celebrating Verna’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor Willie Gilbert and Brother Luthar Ray officiating.  Verna will be laid to rest at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.

Pallbearers are Jacob Mashburn, Jerry Adair, Christopher Adair, Patrick Brannon, Bobby Alley, and Alfred Lee Alley III.  Honorary Pallbearers are Terry Fowler and L. Jay Alley.
