Verline Ward Williams

May 13, 1926 — January 28, 2022

Broken Arrow

Verline Ward Williams was born in Yuba, Oklahoma on May 13, 1926 to William Davis and Willie Celeste Seaton. After moving to Texas, Verline returned to Oklahoma in 1975. On July 27, 1990, she married James Williams in Arkansas and resided in Coweta, Oklahoma.

During her life Verline worked in the health system as a nurse in emergency rooms, hospitals, and private homes. When she returned to Oklahoma, she continued her nursing education and was Director of Nurses at health facilities in Tulsa and the surrounding area. Verline did private duty cases until fully retiring in 2000. On September 20, 2007, she was admitted into a nursing home facility and two days later her husband James passed away. The past 15 years, Verline battled with Alzheimer’s. In the beginning of this battle her work ethics kicked in. She was allowed to sit in the nurse’s station with paper and pencil acting as she was charting patients. She called out orders to “her” nurses and even fired a few while she was behind the desk.

Verline’s hobbies were cooking, entertaining, traveling, and reading. She was a hard-working, loving mother, grandmother, and sister.

Verline resided at Senior Suites Healthcare in Broken Arrow. On Friday January 28, 2022 our Lord and Savior took her home to rest in peace. Her family holds her memory and love in our hearts and were blessed to have her in our lives.

Verline is survived by her son, Larry Hagen of Waco, Texas; her grandchildren, Charla Ashley of Niceville, Florida, Kristin Mosher of Prosper, Texas, Chuck Hagen of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Bryan Hagan of  Tulsa, Oklahoma, Travis Hagen of Odessa, Texas, and Jeffry Hagen of Corpus Christi, Texas; ten great grandchildren; her sister, Sue Rosenfeld of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her brothers, Dale Seaton of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Jimmy Seaton of Rainer, Oregon; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Verline was preceded in death by her husband, James Williams; her parents, William David and Willie Celeste Seaton; her son, Clyde Hagen; her sister, Evelyn Bailey; and her brothers, Delbert Seaton and Lewis Seaton.
