Services celebrating the life of Verlie Alice Hocutt will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Kent House officiating. Burial will follow in Park Grove Cemetery in Broken Arrow, OK. Verlie Alice Hocutt, age 97, resident of Broken Arrow went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, November 21, 2018 at her home in Broken Arrow, OK. Verlie was born on June 18, 1921 in Broken Arrow, OK and was the daughter of William Garlin and Verlie Blanche (Rodgers) Kelley. She grew up in Broken Arrow and attended school in Oneta. Verlie married the love of her life, John Billy Hocutt on March 14, 1942 in Coweta, OK and they had three children, Billy, Linda and Carol. She worked at nursing homes in Broken Arrow as a nurse aide for 20 years until she retired. She was also a homemaker who loved caring for her children and grandchildren. Verlie was a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, sewing, crocheting and spending time with her family. She loved her animals and enjoyed watching the birds. She was preceded in death by her parents William Garlin and Verlie Blanche Kelley, her brother, Kiffie Kelley, her beloved daughter-in-law, Patricia (Stringer) Hocutt and a great grandson, Johnathan Martin. Verlie is survived by her husband of 76 years, John Billy Hocutt; 3 children, Billy Hocutt of Broken Arrow, OK; Linda (Hocutt) Martin and husband, Gary of Broken Arrow, OK; and Carol (Hocutt) Bertling and husband, Lynn of Stillwater, OK; 6 grandchildren, Cheri Gotcher and husband, Patrick and their children, Spencer, Jordan and Christian; Ronnie Martin and wife, Yelena and their children, Cody and Nick; Rhonda Masengale and husband, Thomas and their children, Logan and Cooper; April Ramsey and husband, Brad and their children, Henry and John; Kristopher Rowe and wife, Mendy and their children, Ethan, Matthew, Gwendolyn and Merritt; and Mandy Dye and husband, Adam and their children, Allison, Wyatt, Annabelle and Winston; 1 great-great granddaughter; 2 step-grandchildren, Vicka Haritiov and Karina Haritiov; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
