Verda Louise Chartier

Verda Louise Chartier, 87 year old lifelong resident of Coweta, Okla., passed away peacefully Tuesday afternoon, July 22, 2014 at her home in Coweta, Okla. She was born on April 21, 1927 in Coweta, Okla. to Felix Boyd and Amy Lee (Bryan) Fisher. Verda was a 1945 graduate of Coweta High School. She and Gerald E. Chartier were united in marriage and he preceded her in death on July 20, 1988. She then met and married Ed Walker and he later preceded her in death. Verda was a secretary at RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company for 30 years until she retired in 1982. She enjoyed square dancing, cooking, gardening, canning, reading and she loved spending time with her grandchildren. Verda is survived by 1 son, Duane Chartier & wife, Annette, of Coweta, Okla.; 1 daughter, Teresa Chartier of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 2 brothers, Donald Fisher & wife, Mary Ann, of Kan. and Stephen Fisher & wife, Pat, of Coweta, Okla.; 1 sister, Jane Simpson & husband, Sonny, of Tulsa, Okla.; 7 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Verda was preceded in death by her parents, Felix Boyd and Amy Lee Fisher, her husbands, Gerald E. Chartier and Ed Walker, 1 brother, Sam Fisher and 1 sister, Maxine Houser. Viewing will be from 12 pm - 8 pm on Friday, July 25, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with her family greeting friends from 6 pm - 8 pm. Graveside services celebrating the life of Verda will be at 10 am Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Okla.
