Velma Marie Fanning, age 77, resident of Coweta passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 21, 2014 at her home in Coweta, OK. She was born on December 22, 1936 in Stone Bluff, OK to Elmer Zachary and Grace (Foutch) Robbins. Velma and Joe Monroe Fanning Jr. were married on July 3, 1952 in Tulsa, OK. She worked as an assembly worker at Byron Jackson and Zebco. Velma was baptized at Home Gardens Church of Christ in Tulsa. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, doing yard work and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Velma was preceded in death by husband, her parents, 1 brother and 2 sisters. Velma is survived by 1 son, Stan Fanning and wife, Kathy, of Coweta, OK; 1 daughter, Lisa Serzy of Coweta, OK; 2 sisters, Louise Leiger of St. Louis, MO and Pamela Sue Whitehead and husband, Larry, of Haskell, OK; 1 brother, David Robbins of Flintridge, OK; 6 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 6 - 8 PM. Funeral services are scheduled 2 PM on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK. Pallbearers are Gregg Edwards, Brian Whitehead, Frank Powell, Jason Clark, Billy Chadwick and Kurt Lombard.
