Valerie Rose Deatherage, age 75, Sand Springs Resident, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was a beloved mother and grandmother, who lived a life marked by warmth, dedication, and compassionate service.
She was born on July 5, 1949, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. Valerie was the daughter of Hassel Lawrence Houston and Phyllis Frances (Pray) Houston. After obtaining her bachelor's degree in English Language Arts, she embarked on a fulfilling career as a Business Administrator for oil and gas companies TransOK and OneOK. Valerie's professionalism and contributions to her field remained exemplary throughout her tenure.
Beyond her professional achievements, Valerie found joy and solace in her faith. She was a devout member of First United Methodist Church in Downtown Tulsa and, in recent years, poured her heart into volunteering at the Sand Springs Harvest Church's soup kitchen and food pantry. Her service to others was a beacon of hope and a testament to her generous spirit.
Valerie's memory will be treasured by her son, Noel Deatherage and his wife Megan, as well as her adoring grandchildren, Alexis Deatherage, Reese Deatherage, Rylee Hodges, and Baylor Hodges. Valerie was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Timothy Houston. Her legacy of love and kindness will resonate within the hearts of her family and all those who were fortunate to know her.
Her life will be celebrated by the many lives she touched with her grace and selflessness. Her passing is a profound loss, yet her love endures and inspires.
