Travis C. Bench, age 85, resident of Coweta, OK passed away peacefully Saturday morning, May 3, 2014 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, OK. Travis was born on May 13, 1928 in Coweta, OK and was the son of Charlie and Freecy (Bell) Bench. He was a 1946 graduate of Coweta High School. Travis was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1946 to 1948. Travis was united in marriage to Laura Faye Miller on October 22, 1955 in Van Buren, AR and she preceded him in death on June 21, 2005. Travis worked as a welder until he retired in 1974. He was an antique dealer. Travis loved visiting with friends and spending time with his family. Travis is survived by 1 daughter, Claudette Pool and husband, Phillip, of Coweta, OK; 3 sons, Clyde Smith, Jr. and companion, Leslie Barnett, of Porter, OK, Kirk Smith of Hulbert, OK and Havis Smith and wife, Sherry, of Cleveland, OK; 13 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Travis was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Faye Bench; his parents, Charlie and Freecy Bench; a son, Leon Bench; a daughter, Shirley Belden; a brother, Willis Bench; 2 sisters, Vivan Bench and Stella Cooper; and a granddaughter, Rebecca. A visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm Monday, May 5, 2014 at the funeral home. Funeral services for Travis are scheduled for 10:00 am Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Rev. David Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Pallbearers are Trooper Ken Stafford (retired), Trooper Hank Jenks, Trooper Dan Howard (retired), Lieutenant Gary Isbell, Lieutenant Eddie Kirkland (retired) and Trooper Steve Hash.
