August 13, 2011 Tommie Phelps Price, also known as Tom, passed from this life Thursday, September 24, 2009. Tommy was born on March 29, 1937 to John I. Price, Sr. and Ruth (Phelps) Price in Fort Smith, AR. He was married to Margie Ann Ermann on January 31, 1960. He served in the Armed Forces of the United States in the Arkansas Air National Guard 184th Tactical Reconnaissance Squadron, the Texas Army National Guard 149th Aviation Company, and the National Guard of California from which he received honorable discharge. Tommy was graduated from the University of Arkansas in January 1960 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He worked on the Gemini project for Lockheed in Sunnyvale, CA and in aeronautical engineering for LTV in Grand Prairie, TX. He worked for the City of Tulsa as a Traffic Engineer for 33 years before retiring on July 1, 2004. During this time he received his certification as a professional engineer. Tommy was a prolific hobbyist and enjoyed a wide variety of activities. He was a certified pilot for small-engine planes, was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, and taught himself to play the banjo. Later, he became a member of Tulsa Founders Chorus, the Founding Chapter of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America. He raised honey bees for forty years and served as President of the Northeast Oklahoma Beekeepers Association which awarded him with Lifetime Achievement in 2006. His enjoyment of beekeeping took him to schools across Tulsa and Broken Arrow where he presented a program that taught elementary students the dynamics of the beehive. He is survived by his wife, Margie, of the home, daughter Suzanne Martin, her husband Scott and grandchildren Joshua, Katelyn, Josiah, and Micah of Matthews, NC, daughter Shari Michalski, her husband Mark of Broken Arrow, grandchildren Clinton Barolin and Gianna Barolin of Tulsa, and son Lee, his wife Amie and grandchildren Alexis St. John, Tori Price, Madison Stubblefield, sisters Billie Bair of Fort Smith and Beverly Reid and her husband Bill of Eufaula, and many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law, brothers-
in-law, and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Sondrya Gibson, and brothers Jack Price and John Price, Jr. Visitation will be on Sunday 2:00-4:00 at Kennedy-Amis-Kennard in Broken Arrow.
