Thomas Wells

Thomas Harold Wells, Jr., age 61, of Coweta, OK passed away on Wednesday morning, February 10, 2010 at St Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. He was born on December 29, 1948 in Anaheim, CA to Thomas H. Wells. Thomas was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his family. He graduated from high school in Ft. Knox, KY. He then attended the University of Kentucky for three years. Thomas served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1969. He joined the Army Reserves in the state of Kentucky from 1974 to 1975 where he served as a Drill Sergeant. In 1987 he joined the Army National Guard and served until 2001. He joined the Air Force 138th Airborne and served from 2001 until October 2005 when he retired from the military. He and Judy Gunther were married on June 14, 1969 in Bardstown, KY. They moved to Coweta, OK from Bardstown, KY in 1978. Thomas worked at Burroughs Paper Company as the supervisor for eight years. He also worked at Waste Management as a truck driver for more than 20 years. Thomas was a member of the Bardstown Baptist Church and American Legion Post 226. His hobbies included motorcycles, fishing, watching television, and his primates, Noah and Betsy. Thomas will be greatly missed by his loved ones and friends. Thomas is lovingly survived by his wife, Judy of the home; his son, Thomas H. Wells III of Bardstown, KY; his daughter, Robin Thaxton and her husband, James, of Coweta, OK; four grandchildren, T.J. Jones, Jacqueline Wells, Mason Thomas Wells, and Andrew Wells; two nieces, and several cousins. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Hershel Carrol. A memorial service for Thomas will be at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at First Assembly of God in Coweta, OK with Pastor Gary Rogers officiating.
