Thomas Slape

Thomas Dewayne Slape, age 47, of Porter, Oklahoma departed this life on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at his residence. He was born on October 25, 1961 in Albertville, Alabama to Orman Leroy and Marlene (Gray) Slape. Thomas graduated from Haskell High School in 1979. He worked as a journeyman lineman for the Public Service Company of Oklahoma for nine years. Thomas and Sherry Hall were united in marriage on December 13, 2008 in Coweta, Oklahoma. He was a member at the Shahan Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. His hobbies included raising chickens, reading the Bible, listening to old time gospel music, and watching bull riding. Thomas will be dearly missed by all those who knew him. Thomas is lovingly survived by his wife, Sherry of Salina, Oklahoma; three sons, Thomas Houston Slape of Haskell, Oklahoma, Jonathan Slape of Porter, Oklahoma, and Michael David Slape of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; his mother, Marlene Slape of Coweta, Oklahoma; one step-daughter, Freya Owen of Salina, Oklahoma; two brothers, Gary Slape of Tullahassee, Oklahoma and Robbie Slape of Coweta, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives, and a host of friends. Thomas was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Ricky Don Slape. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2009 at the Shahan Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Sunday, August 23, 2009 from 2 - 4 p.m. Interment will be at Haskell Cemetery in Haskell, Oklahoma.
