Terry was born on March 2, 1948, in Springfield, Missouri to Myron and Louise (Willoughby) Carter. He left this world on Saturday, September 21, 2024, in Coweta, Oklahoma. Terry attended much of his schooling in Willard, Missouri, and later graduated from Tulsa's Nathan Hale High School. On July 16, 1965, Terry was united in marriage with Rebecca (Becky) Mase. Terry and Becky built a life together in the Tulsa area, where they raised their only son, Terry Carter, Jr.
Terry worked in the heating and air industry for nearly his entire life. Alongside his family, he owned and operated both contracting and wholesale companies. Terry worked with friends and associates across the United States and was well regarded in his industry. Even in retirement, Terry continued to consult, only recently stepping back from business.
When not working, Terry enjoyed spending time in the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman, spending countless hours on the water - or sometimes in it! When not fishing, Terry enjoyed shooting trap, hunting birds and hiding from Becky's household projects! Unfortunately for him, Terry would come home to new paint colors, missing walls or a pile of carpet in the front yard.
Terry was also an accomplished mechanic. He enjoyed working on his Go-Karts, traveling all over to race with friends and family. He was a self-taught musician, learning to play the guitar and other instruments by ear. His love of music was a family-trait, one passed down by his mother, Louise. Although Louise may not have had the same taste in music - Terry was often caught listening to classic rock and even rap.
Above all, though, Terry enjoyed helping others. He spent countless hours in his shop working on projects with his family and his neighbors. He took time to teach the younger generations how things worked. Whether it was how a motor operated, how to read a blueprint, or what was needed to bring a wood-working project to fruition, Terry had a knack for sharing and teaching a vast amount of knowledge gained over his lifetime.
Terry is survived by his wife, Becky, their son Terry, Jr. and his partner, Rhett Myers. Other survivors include grandson, Jacob Carter, as well as Terry's brother, Robert Carter and Sharon Allen of Broken Arrow, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of special friends.
