Sylvia Finney

Sylvia Bell Finney, age 82, of Sand Springs passed from this life on Monday, July 27, 2009 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa. She was born on July 19, 1927 in Coweta, OK to Levi and Lavella Lee (Cole) Peoples. Sylvia received her education in the Coweta school system. She and Elbridge Finney were united in marriage on March 11, 1945 in Haskell, OK. Sylvia was a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Park Plaza Church of Christ in Tulsa, OK. Her hobbies included sewing, painting, crafts, knitting, and crocheting. Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one step-daughter, one brother, one sister, and one granddaughter. Sylvia is lovingly survived by one son, David Finney of Tulsa, OK; one daughter, Sharon Breeden of Tulsa, OK; three brothers, Henry Guthrie of Coweta, OK, Mourice Guthrie of Broken Arrow, OK, and Carl Guthrie of Rhode Island, NY; one sister, Virginia King of Wichita, KS; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2009 at Vernon Cemetery with Ed Mosier of Park Plaza Church of Christ officiating. Interment will follow.
