Susan Elizabeth "Sue" Mills, a longtime Broken Arrow resident who has resided in Carriage Crossing Retirement Center for the past seven years in Coweta, peacefully passed from this life on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was born on September 27, 1918 in Coweta, OK. She was 96 years of age. Sue was a proud member of the Creek Nation and the Davis Chapel Indian Church in Coweta. She graduated from Chilocco Indian School and received her nursing degree in Santa Fe, New Mexico. She served as a World War II Navy nurse, stationed in Oakland, California. After the war she met and married Hershel Mills in Sand Springs, OK. She was deeply passionate for her love of antiques and spent twenty-two years in her booth at the Fair Grounds and Persimmon Hollow. She said the best years of her life were spent with her husband scouring the country for primitives to fill her booths. Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Janie (Atkins) and Moss Parkerson, her husband, Hershel Mills, two brothers, Charlie Parkerson and Boman Parkerson and two sisters, Carrie Long and Jerome Reins. Sue is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be from 12 pm - 8 pm on Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the funeral home. A graveside service celebrating Sue's life will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, OK with Rev. Sunrise Ross officiating.
