Stephen J. Vogel

Stephen J. Vogel, age 67, of Tulsa, OK passed away Friday, November 22, 2013 in Tulsa, OK. Steve was born on February 20, 1946 in Enid, OK and was the son of E.E. "Joe" and Peggy (Smith) Vogel. He attended school in Cherryvale, KS and graduated from High School in Bartlesville, OK. Steve attended Oklahoma State University and earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering. Steve proudly served in the United States Army, earning a Bronze Star for his service during the Vietnam War. He married Wanda Brents on August 12, 1972 in Coweta, OK. Steve worked as an engineer and executive in the petroleum industry for over 40 years. He was a great leader during his career and enjoyed teaching others about the oil and gas industry. Steve enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. Steve is survived by his wife of 41 years, Wanda Vogel; daughter, Amanda Jones & husband, Bo, of Norman, OK; son, Jonathan Vogel & wife, Ashley, of Edmond, OK; brothers, James Vogel & wife, Pat, of Bixby, OK and Richard Vogel & wife, Kelly, of Coffeyville, KS; sister, Becky Gates & husband, Jess, of Broken Arrow, OK; two grandchildren, Eloise Vogel and Walt Vogel; mother-in-law, Leona Brents; brother and sister-in-law, Robbie & Barbara Morton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Steve was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Roy Brents. A Celebration of Steve's Life will be at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 27, 2013 at Asbury United Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
