Stella Dodson

Stella Fern Dodson of Coweta, age 88, a loving and caring mother, grandmother and aunt, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, January 7, 2012 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home in Coweta, OK. Stella was born on May 1, 1923 in Coweta, OK to her parents, David Franklin and Bessie Edna (Allen) Goodell. Stella received her education in Coweta Public Schools and was a long-time resident of Coweta. Stella and Abner Dodson were married on July 24, 1940 in Coweta, OK and they were married nearly 44 years until he preceded her in death on April 17, 1984. She was a homemaker for most of her life. Stella attended the Coweta Free Will Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing and she loved raising baby chickens. Stella is survived by her daughter, Betty Jackson of Broken Arrow; her daughter-in-law, Barbara Dodson of Wagoner; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her niece and best friend, Bonnie Hunter; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Stella was preceded in death by her parents, David Franklin and Bessie Edna Goodell, her husband, Abner Dodson, one son, Kenneth Dodson, one daughter, Mary, five brothers and two grandsons. A graveside service for Stella will be at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK with Rev. Jim Dodson officiating.
