Stanley “Stan” Gene Wenzel, age 76, resident of Catoosa, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday evening, July 14, 2022 at his home in Catoosa, Oklahoma. Stan was born on March 11, 1946 in Claremore, Oklahoma to George Augustus and Lois (Welch) Wenzel. He went to school in Broken Arrow and was a 1964 graduate of Broken Arrow High School. Stan then attended Northeastern State University and later received a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. He was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force, serving from 1966 to 1970. Stan married the love of his life, Janice Ann Gilbert on January 6, 1968. He worked at Conley Corporation as operations executive for several years until he retired. Stan loved fishing, golfing, and spending time in Las Vegas at their condo.
Stan is survived by his wife, Jan Wenzel of the home in Catoosa, Oklahoma; his son, Stan Wenzel Jr. (aka Little Stan) and his wife Marcie of Catoosa, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Zac Wenzel and Shelby Brown of Sand Springs, Oklahoma and Ashlee Wenzel of Catoosa, Oklahoma; his sister-in-law, Phyllis Lawson; his nieces and nephews, Jeremy and Shelley Lawson, Dennis and Misty Hargrove, Jana Lawson, Derek and Sarah Gilbert, and Alissa Gilbert; and numerous great nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Stan was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lois Wenzel.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home in Coweta, Oklahoma. Services celebrating Stan’s life will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, Oklahoma with Pastor WJ Flowers officiating. Stan will be laid to rest at a private interment at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma.
Pallbearers are Zac Wenzel, Jeremy Lawson, Dennis Hargrove, Seth Hargrove, Matthew Hargrove, and Max Hosey.
