Sonja M. Roberts

Sonja M. Roberts, age 75, long-time resident of Tulsa, OK passed away peacefully Saturday, March 1, 2014 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. She was born on April 3, 1938 in Spadra, AR and was the daughter of Clarence Emery and Lucy Crystal (Gean) Cline. Sonja and John Charles Roberts were married on April 6, 1955 in Arkansas and he preceded her in death on January 20, 2009. She worked at Hathaway Corporation in Tulsa as a machinist for several years until she retired. Sonja was also a homemaker for most of her life. She was a member of Southeast Baptist Church in Tulsa. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing and she loved spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. Sonja was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 grandchildren, Mitchell and Dale. Sonja is survived by 2 sons, Charles Emery Roberts & wife, Teresa, of Coweta, OK and Michael Lynn Roberts of Tulsa, OK; 3 sisters, Loweta Gallagher of Joplin, MO, Billie McCoulough of Madison, FL and Sherry Kauphman of Venice, FL; 3 grandchildren, Brandon Roberts, Angela Brown and Kirk Roberts; 6 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, March 5, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services for Sonja are scheduled for 10:00 am on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Southeast Baptist Church, 1402 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK 74112. Dr. Ival Robinson will officiate the service. A graveside service is scheduled for 3:30 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2014 at Hartman Cemetery in Hartman, AR with Rev. Don Alexander officiating. Pallbearers are Jerry Bradfield, Jeff Brown, Jeff Hamon, Bryce Brown, Gerald Silvis, Greg Thurman, Larry Roberts, Geary Roberts, Roy Roberts and Mike Reeves.
