Shirley Silvis

Shirley Jean Silvis of Coweta, age 62, a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, April 29, 2012 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. Shirley was born on August 21, 1949 in Poteau, OK and was the daughter of Eugene and Rebecca (Clark) Baughman. Shirley was a 1967 graduate of Okmulgee High School. Shirley and Gerald Silvis were united in marriage on August 13, 1980 in Sapulpa, OK. Shirley worked as a ticket agent at American Airlines for 26 years until she retired. In 2009, Gerald and Shirley moved to the Coweta area from Broken Arrow. Shirley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. Shirley enjoyed traveling and shopping. Shirley is lovingly survived by her husband of 33 years, Gerald Silvis of the home; her mother, Becky Baughman of Broken Arrow; her son, Glenn Silvis and wife, Amy, of Olathe, KS; her two step-sons, Tony Silvis and wife, Sarah, of Albuquerque, NM and Terry Jacobs and wife, Kim, of Corsicana, TX; her step-daughter, Nancy Mendoza and husband, Kristopher, of Glenpool; her sister, Linda Swindler of Mooreland, OK; eight grandchildren, Madison Silvis, Jessica Spurgeon, Samantha Smith, Olivia Mendoza, Carrie Silvis, Caitlyn Silvis, Stoney Jacobs, and Whitney Jacobs; one great grandson, Cash Spurgeon; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and numerous beloved friends. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Baughman and brother-in-law, Fred Swindler. Funeral services for Shirley are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta with Dr. Robert Cannon officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery. Pallbearers are Charles Roberts, Jon Scoggins, Ed Simeday, Everol Flynn, Arvel Looney, and Jerry Bradfield.
