Shirley Belden

Shirley Mae Belden, age 61, of Coweta, Oklahoma departed this life on Wednesday, September 9, 2009 at Southcrest Hospital in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on July 8, 1948 in Fort Ord, California to Clyde L. and Faye (Miller) Smith. Shirley graduated from Coweta High School. She and Ralph Belden were married in 1965 in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They later divorced. Shirley worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma for twelve years. She also worked as a memo clerk at Fabricut for two years. Her hobbies included cats, genealogy, and she enjoyed being with her family. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Leon Bench. Shirley is lovingly survived by two sons, Eddie Belden and his wife, Katherine, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Scott Belden of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; one daughter, Laura Cooper and Tom Garrard of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; her step-father, Travis Bench of Coweta, Oklahoma; three brothers, Clyde Smith of Porter, Oklahoma, Kirk Smith of Hulbert, Oklahoma, and Havis Smith of Cleveland, Oklahoma; one sister, Claudette Pool of Coweta, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Shirley will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2009 at the Liberty Free Will Baptist Church in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma with Jim Belden and Joey Griffith officiating. Interment will be at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma. Family and friends may view the obituary and send condolences to Shirley's family online @ www.wrightfh.net. The family of Shirley Belden entrusted her care and services to Wright Funeral Home, 210 S. Broadway, Coweta, OK 74429, (918) 486-5515. Casket Bearers will be Rodney Cooper, James Cooper, Ryan Cooper, Cody Jackson, Kyle Belden, and Austin Belden. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Gary Belden and Colton Belden.
