Sharon Diane Stone

Sharon Diane Stone, age 72, resident of Coweta left this world for her heavenly home on December 31, 2017 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born in Tucson, Arizona on March 6, 1945, to Glynn and Ellen Lowrey. Sharon attended school in Coweta and graduated from Tahlequah High School. Sharon and Thomas R. Stone, III "Sonny", were married at the First United Methodist Church in Coweta on June 2, 1961. Sharon was known for her dazzling smile, her kind spirit, her excitement for life, and her love for animals. She was an exemplary wife and mother, as well as an astute business woman. Her endeavors included raising and showing Arabian horses; owning and operating a grocery store at Stone's Corner; and assisting in the operation of the family car wash. She was a person of many interests and abilities. She fished at Grand Lake, Eufaula Lake, and enjoyed deep sea fishing at many locations. She had a green thumb and grew beautiful flowers as well as an amazing garden. Sharon was a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying. She was always ready for a trip and traveled world-wide. Golfing was another talent she enjoyed. Sharon had a passion for animals and loved taking in stray cats and dogs on a regular basis. Life handed Sharon a health issue she handled far beyond the expectations of the medical community. She was a strong woman who was always happy and never complained about her illness. She loved playing BUNCO and looked forward to the companionship with her BUNCO girls. Sharon loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glynn Forest Lowrey and Ellen Elizabeth Lowrey. Sharon is survived by her husband Sonny Stone, her 2 daughters, Janet Tucker and husband, Roy of Coweta, Oklahoma and Kathy Gilstrap and husband, Billy of Catoosa, Oklahoma and 1 son, Ben Stone of Wagoner, Oklahoma. Grandchildren include Collin Fitzgerald and wife, Jaimi and Lauren Harrison and husband, Ethan. Her great-grandchildren are Elliott Harrison, Jake Fitzgerald, and Liam Harrison. She also leaves behind her sister Abby Booth and husband, Lloyd; her sister-in-law, Peggy Hughes and husband, Bryan; and nephews, Doug Booth and wife, Adella, Jake Booth and wife, Ashley, and Matthew Booth. Sharon was a lifetime member of the Coweta United Methodist Church. She loved her church family. Viewing will be from 9 AM - 8 PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 and from 9 AM - 8 PM on Thursday, January 4, 2018. Services celebrating Sharon's life will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. John Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, Oklahoma. Pallbearers are Ben Stone, Billy Gillstrap, Ethan Harrison, Doug Booth, Jake Booth and Matthew Booth. Honorary Pallbearers are Henry and Mary Jane Bias and Linda Young. Family and friends may share memories online at www.brownfamilyfuneralhome.com.
