Sfc Charles Thomas O'Dell

Services celebrating the life of SFC Charles Thomas O'Dell will be at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK. Burial with full military honors will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK. SFC Charles Thomas O'Dell, age 84, resident of Coweta passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at his home in Coweta, OK. Charles was born on November 16, 1933 in Wilberton, KS to Merritt and Bernice (Creason) O'Dell. He was proud veteran of the United States Army where he received numerous medals and honors. Charles retired as Criminal Military Justice from the Army in 1975 after 22 years of service. After retired from the Army, he went to work for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority for 10 years. Charles married the love of his life, Shirley Jean (Dale) O'Dell in December 23, 1958 in Colorado Springs, CO and they had 3 sons, Mike, Randy and Gary. He was a member of the Coweta Assembly of God. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed shooting guns and collecting coins. Charles loved anything related to history and was a huge John Wayne fan. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed teasing people in a loving way. Charles is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Jean O'Dell of the home in Coweta, OK; 2 sons, Randy O'Dell and wife, Lori of Broken Arrow, OK and Gary O'Dell and wife, Tawnia of Broken Arrow, OK; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Merritt and Bernice O'Dell, 1 son, Mike O'Dell and 1 brother, Bill O'Dell. Family and friends may share memories online at www.brownfamilycares.com.
