Samuel Spradlin

Samuel Theodore "Ted" Spradlin, longtime resident of Coweta, passed away on Thursday morning, July 28, 2011 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK at the age of 95 years, 1 month and 15 days. Ted Spradlin was born on June 13, 1916 in Canute, OK to his parents, Samuel and May (Music) Spradlin. He received his education in the Canute School System and graduated from Canute High School in 1932. After graduating high school, he attended Oklahoma University and Southwestern Oklahoma State University where he received his Bachelor's Degree. Ted and Ida Maxine Blakemore were married on May 24, 1941 and she preceded him in death on May 22, 1996. In August of 1997, he and Ann Scott were married in Eureka Springs, AR. Ted worked as a geophysicist at Marathon Oil Company for 34 years until he retired in 1986 and he was also a farmer for most of his life. He was a member of New Home Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta. Ted enjoyed the stock market, golfing, fishing, ranching and he was an avid OU fan. Ted is lovingly survived by his wife, Ann of the home; his three children, Carole Winnett and her husband, Larry, of Coweta, OK, Donna Callaghan and her husband, Mike, of Owasso, OK and Ron Spradlin and his wife, Terry, of Coweta, OK; his two sisters, Alice Cox of Drumright, OK and Wanda Ritchie of Yukon, OK; his brother, Donald Spradlin of Granite, OK; 11 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Ida Maxine Spradlin, two brothers, Oren Spradlin and Lee Spradlin and one grandson, Sam Winnett. Family will be present at a visitation on Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2011 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services for Ted will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Abundant Rain Ministries, 12425 S. 273rd E. Ave., Coweta, OK. Pastor Michael Sloat will officiate the service. A graveside service will be at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Canute Cemetery in Canute, OK. Family and friends may sign the guest book on-line @ www.wrightfh.net. Pallbearers are James Robert "Bob" Winnett, Christopher Douglas Winnett, Jay Jackson, Michael Spradlin, Conner Dougherty and David Smith.
