Samuel E. Adams

Samuel E. "Sam" Adams, age 84, of Coweta, OK passed away peacefully Saturday morning, April 5, 2014 at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, OK. He was born on August 5, 1929 in Weiner, AR and was the son of John and Gladis (Norris) Adams. Sam was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. He enlisted in the Army on March 28, 1951 and was honorably discharged on March 27, 1953. Sam and Betty (Bowers) Adams were married on December 14, 1991 in Tulsa, OK. He owned and operated Sam's Tire Shop in Coweta for over 20 years. Sam was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. He enjoyed square dancing, fishing and hunting. Sam is survived by his wife, Betty Adams of the home in Coweta, OK; 1 daughter, Betty Jo Bixler & husband, Butch, of Coweta, OK; 2 sisters, Gloria Coulson and Dorothy Stockler; 1 brother, J.T. Adams; 3 grandchildren, Michael Gwyn & wife, Jacquie, Amber Frost & husband, Greg and Larry Don; 9 great grandchildren, Cortney, Kyler, Bubby, Cheynne, Nick, Cole, Sadie, Cody and Tyler; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, John & Gladis Adams, 1 brother, Lester and 1 sister, Cletus. Funeral services for Sam are scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Rev. David Jones officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Viewing will be on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.
