Ruth Poplin

Ruth Poplin, age 76, of Coweta passed from this life on Monday evening, July 13, 2009 at Coweta Manor Nursing Home. She was born on September 29, 1932 in Spur, TX to Royal and Nora (Alldredge) Battles. Ruth received her education in the Borger, TX school system and graduated from Borger High School. She and Dennis Poplin were united in marriage on July 24, 1951 in Iuka, MS. Ruth worked as a cafeteria worker at Coweta Junior High School for four years. Her hobbies included fishing, crocheting, sewing, gardening, and she collected turtles. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, and two brothers. Ruth is lovingly survived by her daughter, Jennifer Gilbert and her husband, Bobby, of Coweta, OK; three sisters, Joyce Alexander of Nacogdoches, TX, Nell Chaney of Hico, TX, and Bonnie Murray of Grandbury, TX; three grandchildren, Jeremie Poplin, Sarah Hall, and Jason Gilbert; two great grandchildren, Colton Hall and Jonah Gilbert; numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Vernon Cemetery with Rev. Don Whitby officiating. Interment will follow.
