Russell F. Thomas

Russell F. Thomas, age 84, resident of Coweta passed away Saturday morning, October 19, 2013 at his home in Coweta, Okla. surrounded by his family. Russell was born on November 26, 1928 in County Line, Okla. and was the son of P.C. and Aronia (Dixon) Thomas. He and Billie J. Sellars were united in marriage on December 22, 1947. He was a 1948 graduate of Duncan High School in Duncan, Okla. Russell worked at Blue Circle Cement in Tulsa, OK for 26 years until he retired in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading, barbequing and large family gatherings. Russell is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years, Billie Thomas of the home; four sons, Jack Thomas and wife, Jan, Jim Thomas and wife, Laira, Dennis Thomas and wife, Monica and Gary Thomas and wife, Cherie; six granddaughters, Abi, Colette, Chelsea, Kaila, Jacy and Lyndy; one grandson, Tristan; one brother, Bobby Joe Thomas; and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Pauline, Opal and Mattie and three brothers, Bill, Jimmy Ray and Clarence. Family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, October 24, 2013 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 am Friday, October 25, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta, Okla. with Rev. David Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Vernon Cemetery in Coweta. Pallbearers are sons, Jack Thomas, Jim Thomas, Dennis Thomas, Gary Thomas and great nephews, Isaac Foster and Niles Foster.
