Ruby Dunn

Ruby Elzane Dunn, age 98, of Coweta, Oklahoma passed from this life on Wednesday, January 30, 2008 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma after a short illness. Ruby was born on August 5, 1909 in Walker County, Georgia to D. Felton and Norma Mae (Walker) Hampton. The family moved to Oklahoma and settled in the Coweta area. Ruby graduated from Coweta High School and then attended Northeastern State College where she received her master's degree in teaching. She married the love of her life, Marion I. Dunn, on January 12, 1929 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Ruby was a teacher in the Coweta Public Schools for 43 years until her retirement. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Her hobbies including gardening, reading, traveling, and she loved her grandchildren. Survivors include one son, Don Dunn and his wife, Linda, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Cheri Watson and her husband, Larry, of Edmond, Oklahoma and Doug Dunn and his wife, Kristi, of Plano, Texas; and five great grandchildren, Justin and Shannon Payne of Edmond, Oklahoma and Parker, Mackenzie, and Gabrielle Dunn of Plano, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, and two brothers. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Allen Carson officiating. Committal prayers and interment will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements and services are under the direction of Wright Funeral Home.
