Ruby Brown

Ruby May Brown, age 86, of Broken Arrow departed this life on Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at her home. She was born on September 1, 1923 in Thornfield, Missouri to Aaron Frank and Mary R. (Poplin) Goodnight. Ruby was a loving and caring mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother to her family. She received her education in the Thornfield, Missouri school system. Ruby and Glinnie Murrill were married in 1938 at Pond Fork, Missouri. He preceded her in death. She then married Herman Brown on March 11, 1968 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. She was a master gardener at Zandbergen Bulb Farm for 23 years until her retirement in 1971. Ruby was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Porter, Oklahoma. Her hobbies included gardening, cattle, and she enjoyed being outdoors. She will be dearly missed by her family. Ruby is lovingly survived by three daughters, Mary Dodson and her husband, Jake, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Linda Runnels of Coweta, Oklahoma, and Wilma Rider and her husband, Robert, of Coweta, Oklahoma; one son, Benny Murrill of Niangua, Missouri; three brothers, Hershel Goodnight of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Earl Goodnight of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and John Goodnight of Coweta, Oklahoma; 10 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; and numerous great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Ruby was preceded in death by her second husband, Herman Brown, her parents, one grandson, four sisters, and five brothers . Funeral services for Ruby will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 17, 2010 at Wright Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Corp officiating. A private committal will follow.
