Ruben L. Dykes

A memorial service celebrating the life of Ruben L. Dykes will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at Coweta Church of God of Prophecy in Coweta, OK with Pastor Larry Duncan officiating. Viewing will be from 12:00 - 8:00 PM on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Brown Family Funeral Home. A private family burial will be in Vernon Cemetery in Coweta, OK. Ruben L. Dykes, age 90, lifelong Coweta resident went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, OK. Ruben was born on July 19, 1927 to Acy and Addie (Knight) Dykes in Coweta, OK. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1945-1947. He married the love of his life, Ella Mae (Snelson) Dykes on June 7, 1947 in Coweta, OK. Ruben was a welder at Bethlehem Steel Company, CRC-Crose International and retired from Knight Industries in 1977. He attended the Coweta Church of God of Prophecy. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Ruben is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ella Mae Dykes of the home in Coweta, OK; 2 daughters, Linda Massey and husband, Lee of Coweta, OK and Debbie Roland and husband, Phil of Coweta, OK; 1 son, Bobby Dykes and wife, Barbara of Coweta, OK; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. Ruben was preceded in death by his parents, Acy and Addie Dykes, 1 son, Wayne Dykes, 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Family and friends may share memories online at www.brownfamilycares.com.
