Roy Alvin Harper, Jr., age 92, resident of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday evening, May 27, 2022 at Wildwood Senior Living in Joplin, Missouri.  Roy was born on January 3, 1930 in Duenweg, Missouri to Roy Alvin and Lillian Zelma (Seamons) Harper.  Roy graduated high school in Joplin, Missouri and received his Master’s degree in Business from Drury University in Springfield, Missouri.  He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving from 1947 till 1952 as a CT1 First Class.  In 1948, Roy married Naurine Carr and they were married until 1974.  He then married Jessie Wyoma Smith on July 15, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada.  He worked for Arrow Engine Company in Tulsa, Oklahoma as operations manager and a quality control engineer for 17 years.  Roy enjoyed playing softball and managed the Roadrunners until Summer of 2021.  He also played pickleball.  Roy was a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree mason.

Roy is survived by his fiancé, Jacquie Patterson; two sons, Roy Alvin Harper, III of Texas and James Floyd Harper of Virginia; one daughter, Susan Montague of California; two step-sons, James Ray and Gary Blackstock; seven grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Jessie Harper; his parents, Roy Alvin and Lillian Zelma Harper; and three sisters, Imogene “Jean” Davis, Mary Fultz, and Carol Henderson.

Services celebrating Roy’s life will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, June 6, 2022 at Shahan Free Will Baptist Church in Coweta, Oklahoma with Rev. Lynn Moss officiating. Roy will be laid to rest at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, Missouri.
