Ronald Joe "Ron" Tilton

Ronald Joe "Ron" Tilton, age 74, resident of Coweta went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 5, 2018 at his home in Coweta, OK. Ron was born on August 22, 1943 to Roy Eugene and Hazel Lorene (Poindexter) Tilton in Grandfield, OK. He attended school in Oildale, CA. Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He enlisted in the Navy on December 21, 1961 and was honorably discharged on March 31, 1966. Ron married the love of his life, Jimmie LaVerl Claunch on August 22, 1962 in Modesto, CA. He was a Pastor at a Pentecostal Holiness Church in Chowchilla, CA from 1983 to 1993. Ron was also a cement finisher for most of his life, retiring in 2002. After retiring, he decided to get in the Flea Market business. Ron was a member of the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed fishing, camping, watching TV and playing his guitar and singing. Ron also enjoyed talking with his friends and spending time with his family. He loved everyone and was committed to giving, always putting others first. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Eugene and Hazel Lorene Tilton and 5 siblings, Richard D. "Baldy" Tilton, Dixie B. "Harry" Tilton, Norman Dale Tilton, Ricky Tilton and Mary Joyce Johnson. Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, LaVerl Tilton; 2 sons, Jeffrey Tilton and wife, Tarra and Michael Tilton; 2 sisters, Dorothy Jean Blake and Sharon Kay Vaile; 1 brother, Daniel Otto Walker; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Truluck, Amberly Stanfield, Ronald Joe Tilton II, Hallie Maddalena, Portia Tilton and Eric Tilton; 5 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Viewing will be from 12-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018. Services celebrating Ron's life will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Pastor Paul Beck officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK. Pallbearers are Michael Tilton, Jeffrey Tilton, Sean Arceo, Andrew Neill, Alex Neill, Ronnie Tilton II, Gary Waller and Kenneth Waller.
