Ronald Gene Johnson

May 11, 1947 — June 9, 2023

Coweta

Ronald G. Johnson passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 9, 2023, in Coweta, Oklahoma at the age of 76 years.

Ron was born on May 11, 1947, in Dodge City KS to John and Elnor (Cross) Johnson.  He loved music and fixing and racing cars in his younger years. His love of music ranged from 50’s and 60’s to classic country. He may have loved gospel, especially the Gaither’s the most. He loved to sing and had a beautiful voice.  He was an excellent mechanic. His love of mechanics turned into a career as a heavy equipment and oil field mechanic most of his adult life. He married his wife Susan on November 4, 1994. His career took them from Dodge City to Ulysses, KS, Perryton TX, and finally Woodward, OK where he retired in 2022. He was a hard worker, and great provider for his family as he continued to work through his battle with lung cancer, COPD, and emphysema. He was always there with a helping hand to whoever needed it. He was loved and respected by many. Ron and Susan moved to Coweta, OK in November of 2022. He wanted to spend as much time with his great grandchildren as he could. Family meant the most to Ron, and all though his time with them wasn’t long as he would have liked, it was meaningful. He loved the Lord and was comforted knowing where he was spending eternity. He went before us so he could be there to welcome us home, knowing we would see him again. He can now sing the angels.

He was preceded in death by both parents and sister, Johnnie Johnson-Ebaugh.

He is survived by his wife of the home, Susan; his beloved dog, Sadie; his children, Troy Johnson (Krissy), Talena Martin, Eric Lucas (Holly), and Brooke Hammond (Thomas); his brother, Greg Johnson (Carolyn); his sister, Starla Davidson (Kevin); his sister-in-law, Truddi Griffin; his grandchildren, Aaron, Becky, Kealy, Carter, and London; his great grandchildren, Bryce, Riley, Kenadi, and Madison; and multiple nieces and nephews.
