Ronald Ward Brown

Ronald Ward Brown, age 67, of Broken Arrow passed away peacefully, Sunday morning, March 2, 2014 at their home in Broken Arrow, OK surrounded by his family. He was born on November 6, 1946 in Canandaigua, NY and was the son of Jay Henry and Helen (Ferguson) Brown. Ron was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving in the Vietnam War. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on September 9, 1965 and was honorably discharged on September 8, 1969. Ron and Jill (Walworth) Brown were married on October 26, 1991 in Palm Bay, FL. He worked as a truck driver for Reliable Carriers, Inc. for 17 years until he retired in 2008. Ron was a lifetime member of New York Teamsters, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion. Ron is survived by his wife, Jill Brown of the home in Broken Arrow, OK; 4 children, Chris Brown & wife, Jennifer, of Jacksonville, FL, Sadelina Dowling of Tulsa, OK, Buchanon Dowling of Houston, TX and James Brown & wife, Cheree, of Broken Arrow, OK; 3 sisters, Bonnie Stivers, Connie Ballangao and Yvonne Lush; 1 brother, Don Brown; 2 grandsons, Cooper Brown and Lucas Dowling; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-mom, Jean Brown. The family will greet friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, March 6, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral services for Ron are scheduled for 10:30 am on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Wright-Brown Family Funeral Home Chapel in Coweta, OK with Chaplain Roger Sheppard of Hope Hospice officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:00 pm at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery in Ft. Gibson, OK. Pallbearers are Chris Brown, James Brown, Buchanon Dowling, Don Brown, Ernie East and Bryan Howard. Honorary Pallbearers are Cooper Brown and Lucas Dowling.
