Robert Taylor

Robert "R.C." Taylor, age 81, of Coweta departed this life on Thursday morning, February 19, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family members. He was born on May 23, 1927 in Archer City, Texas to Bob and Kittie Belle (Waggoner) Taylor. R.C. graduated from high school in Allison, Texas. He joined the United States Navy on December 23, 1950 and was honorably discharged on October 19, 1954. R.C. and Shirley Belle Byrd were united in marriage on December 26, 1954 in Stephenville, Texas. In 1956, he moved to the Coweta area from Tulsa, Oklahoma. R.C. worked as a self-employed contractor and builder. He was also a farmer and rancher for over 40 years and he enjoyed raising cattle. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Coweta. R.C. will be greatly missed by all those who knew him. R.C. was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. R.C. is lovingly survived by his son, Chad Taylor and his wife, Krista, of Coweta; his two brothers, Jack Taylor of Indialantic, Florida and Cliff Taylor of Sayre, Oklahoma; his two sisters, Doris Wickersham of Tulsa and Beverly Brannon of Houston, Texas; his five grandchildren, Stephane Nichols, Kaylee Nichols, Krislyn Taylor, Connor Taylor, and Brady Taylor; his great grandson, Cayden Lane Cole; other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral Services for R.C. will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at the First Baptist Church in Coweta. Rev. Jack Taylor, Rev. David Jones, and Rev. Andy Taylor will officiate the service. Committal prayers and burial with full military honors will follow at Vernon Cemetery. Casket Bearers will be Robert Wickersham, Mike Wickersham, Robert Golson, Andy Taylor, Monty Taylor, and Ronnie Dieterich. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Gene Cates, James Murray, and Harry Waldrup.
